Let's face it -- revitalizing downtown Tacoma and the Hilltop area are BOTH important; but so are the other business districts throughout our City. For our city to thrive, businesses must thrive everywhere, and that means that neighborhoods have to be safe for their citizens to walk the streets. It's ludicrous that one of our policemen was beat up for interrupting a group spreading graffiti. We must work as a team to stop the attrition of dedicated police officers!
I did not realize violent crime was still a major issue in the Tacoma area. I thought things had calmed down quite a bit. Still, I think this is a perfect example of how community involvement and preventative measures could benefit our citizens.
I hope that Tacoma chooses its next Superintendent based on their desire to see this Plan fullfilled. We need flexibility for our student learners and strong community support for the successes we envision.
Get Smart Tacoma is a coordinated effort focused on creating a vision for Tacoma’s future, establishing the goals and objectives to reach that vision and navigating our way to through the process.
The recent Community Summit, held on May 4th and 5th at the Stadium High School campus, set the beginning stages.
This blog gives ALL in the community an opportunity to keep an ongoing dialogue as we continue this effort.

We should continue to revitalize the downtown area by bringing in more opportunities and greater incentives for new business development.
I agree with Savy, but I also think it is important that we encourage more businesses, stores, restaurants, etc... to expand to the Hilltop area.
